Having a home inspected is like giving it a physical checkup. If significant problems or symptoms are found that are beyond the inspector’s knowledge or area or expertise, the inspector will refer you to the appropriate specialist or tradesperson for further evaluation.
A home inspector performs a very valuable and important service. Professional home inspectors examine existing homes using professional standards as a measure to accurately report their condition to parties involved in the real estate transaction. At Premier Home Inspections, we abide by the Standards of Practice and Code of Conduct of the American Inspectors Society.
The home inspector does not evaluate the home for cost or value, but reports objectively in writing the condition of the home's systems as they appear and operate at the time of the inspection. A detailed home inspection usually takes two to three hours or longer, depending on the home’s age and square footage.

Choosing a home inspector can be difficult. Unlike most professionals, you most likely will not meet the inspector until after you hire them. Different inspectors have varying qualifications, experience, training, equipment, reporting methods, quality of the reports, and yes, different pricing. Don’t be tempted to hire an inspector just because that inspector charges an abnormally low fee. You most likely will end up with an inexperienced inspector, or someone who does home inspection “on the side”. Home inspection requires a lot of work. Ultimately, a thorough inspection depends on the individual inspector’s own effort. I would be honored to inspect your new home.
